Role Of Glutathione On Skin

Glutathione is a substance made from the amino acids glycine, cysteine, and glutamic acid. It is produced by the liver and involved in many body processes. Glutathione is involved in tissue building and repair, making chemicals and proteins needed in the body, and immune system function. Glutathione can be called the mother of all anti- oxidants, “Essentially, it recycles the rest of our anti-oxidant like vit E & C.”

How can I get glutathione naturally?

1. Eat Sulfur Rich Foods: Mushrooms are one of the foods richest in sulfur amino acids. Other sulfur rich foods include: meat, eggs & fish. Grains, including rice, bread, and pasta, vegetables, such as onion, garlic, broccoli, kale, and cabbage.

2. Consume More Dairy: Dairy products contain the protein called A1 & A2. Beta casein, which has the potential to increase glutathione levels in the body.

3. Consume More Whey Protein: Whey is another protein that is present in dairy products, it also contains large quantities of cysteine. Findings from an earlier study suggested that whey protein can decrease oxidative stress in the lungs of people with cystic fibrosis by increasing glutathione levels.

4. Get More Exercise: Research has also suggested that exercise can reduce oxidative stress by increasing glutathione levels. Researchers also noted that exercise increased concentrations among adults who led a sedentary lifestyle. However, the researchers only observed this increase in younger adults.

Are there any contraindications for glutathione?

Pregnancy and breast feeding: There is not enough reliable information to know if glutathione is safe to use when pregnant or breast feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.
Asthma: do not inhale glutathione if you have asthma. It can increase asthma symptoms.
